Who we are
The asiTivi app is provided by ASI North America LLC, doing business as ASI Broadband ("ASI", "we", "us"). asiTivi lets ASI TV customers watch the live channels in their ASI TV package on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and other devices.
This policy explains what the app collects, why, where it goes, how long we keep it and the choices you have. ASI's general Privacy Policy at https://asibroadband.com/privacy.html covers our website and our other services.
What the app collects and why
- Sign-in details. The username and password ASI issued for your TV service, and the address of ASI's TV server. The app uses them to sign you in and to check that your account includes the channel you choose. They are sent to ASI's TV server and stored on your device in the system's secure storage (the Keychain on Apple devices).
- Device pairing. If you sign in with a pairing code, the app asks ASI's TV server for a short code and shows it on screen. Getting the code sends no personal information. After an ASI representative approves the code, ASI's server sends your device its sign-in details.
- Device details. A random device ID that the app creates the first time it runs, the device type and operating system version, a device name (for example "Apple TV") and the app version. The device ID is not Apple's advertising identifier and is not used to track you. These details are sent to ASI's TV server when the app opens or comes back to the foreground. ASI uses them to list the devices on your account, to help with support, and to remove a device when asked.
- What you watch. To play a channel, the app requests the stream from ASI's TV server. That server receives which channel or program was requested, when, from which device and from which IP address. ASI uses this to deliver the stream, apply your package, keep the service running and fix problems.
- Profiles, favorites and resume points. Viewer profile names you create, the channels and programs you mark as favorites, and, for programs the app lets you resume, where you stopped watching. These are saved to your account on ASI's TV server so they appear on all your devices. A copy is kept on the device.
- Playback problem and crash reports. When a channel fails to play or stalls, or the app hits an error, the app records the channel, the time, what went wrong (error codes and messages, with your password removed) and the device details above. On Android devices it also records whether you are on Wi-Fi, Ethernet or cellular. Reports are sent with your account username to ASI Desk, ASI's support system, so our team can find and fix problems. Reports are sent only while the app is signed in. If the device is offline, up to 300 reports wait on the device and are sent later.
- Logs you choose to send. In Settings, Logs & Diagnostics, the "Upload to server" button sends the device details (including device ID, model, screen size and memory use) and the app's log for the current session to ASI's TV server for ASI support. Your username and password are removed from the log. Nothing is sent unless you choose the button.
- Movie and show requests. If the app offers "Request a movie" or "Request a show", the title and any note you type are sent with your username and device details to ASI Desk so ASI can review the request.
- Messages from ASI. The app checks ASI's TV server for service messages, such as outage notices, and keeps a connection to that server open while the app is running so new messages arrive right away. It remembers which message categories you chose to receive.
- Push notifications. If you allow notifications on your device, the app gets a push token from Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers messages through Apple's push service on iPhone and iPad. The app registers the token with ASI's TV server, together with the device ID and name, so ASI can send you service messages. Push notifications are used only on phones and tablets; Apple TV and Android TV do not use them.
- Trakt (optional). If you connect a Trakt account in Settings, Integrations, the app stores a Trakt access key on your device. When you watch an on-demand movie or episode, it sends Trakt the title and how far you got. Live TV viewing is never sent to Trakt. Trakt's privacy policy covers what Trakt does with this data.
- Channel logos and artwork. The app loads images from the web addresses in ASI's program guide. As with any web request, the server hosting an image receives your IP address.
- Local network. If you allow local network access, the app uses it only to reach ASI's TV server when it is on your network. It does not scan for or collect information about other devices.
What stays on your device
- In secure storage: your sign-in details, the device ID, the Trakt access key (if connected) and your language choice.
- In the app's storage: the cached channel list and program guide, cached images, a copy of your favorites, your message history, display and guide settings, and any problem reports waiting to be sent.
This information is not sent anywhere except as described above.
What the app does not do
- It shows no ads and does not use Apple's advertising identifier.
- It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- It contains no analytics or crash-reporting services from other companies.
- It does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Who we share it with
ASI does not sell your viewing data or any other information collected by the app, and does not share your viewing data with channel owners or advertisers. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers that host and operate ASI's systems, including ASI's TV server and ASI Desk. They are bound to protect the data at least as well as this policy does and may use it only to provide services to ASI.
- Google and Apple: only the push token and the messages ASI sends, and only if you allow notifications on your device.
- Trakt: only if you connect a Trakt account, as described above.
- When the law requires it: to comply with the law or respond to lawful requests.
How long we keep it
- Sign-in and account details: while you are an ASI customer. After your account closes, asiTivi data is deleted within 90 days, except records ASI must keep for billing or legal reasons.
- Device list: until the device is removed from your account or your account closes. Devices that have not connected for 12 months are removed.
- Stream request records on ASI's TV server: 90 days.
- Playback problem reports, crash reports and uploaded logs: 12 months.
- Movie and show requests: 12 months after the request is closed.
- Profiles, favorites and resume points: until you delete them or your account closes, then deleted within 90 days.
- Push tokens: until you sign out, turn off notifications or the token expires.
- On your device: until you sign out or delete the app. On Apple devices the device ID is kept in secure storage, which the system may keep after the app is deleted; it is reused if you reinstall.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Sign out: in Settings, choose Disconnect. This removes your sign-in, the cached TV data and the push registration from the device.
- Remove a device: ask ASI support to remove it from your account. The app on that device then signs out.
- Notifications: turn them off at any time in your device's settings.
- Trakt: disconnect in Settings, Integrations.
- Access, correction or deletion: email support@asibroadband.com with the subject "asiTivi privacy request". We will confirm that you are the account holder and respond within 30 days. Deleting asiTivi data does not cancel your TV service. To close your account, contact ASI support. Some records may be kept for billing and legal reasons.
Children
asiTivi is for ASI TV account holders and their households. The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Account holders choose the names of viewer profiles. If you believe a child has given us personal information through the app, email support@asibroadband.com and we will delete it.
Security
Sign-in requests, problem reports and logs go to ASI's servers over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Sign-in details are kept in the device's secure storage, and passwords are removed from problem reports and logs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the "Last updated" date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
